Dahi Kadhi with Pakoda

Dish name: Dahi Kadhi with Pakoda

What we need:

  • Sour Curd-1 cup
  • (Gram flour)Besan-2 tbsp
  • Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  • Water-3/4 cup
  • Coriander leaves-1 tbsp
  • Sugar
  • Salt

To be ground in pestle

  • Curry leaves-4,green chillies-2,garlic-3 or 4 cloves small,cumin-1/2 tsp

For tempering

  • Curry leaves-5,a pinch of Hing,mustard seeds-1/4tsp,cumin seeds-1/4 tsp,oil-1 tbsp

For Pakoda

  • Gram flour(besan)-1/2 cup
  • Onion-1 small,sliced
  • Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder-1/4 tsp or 1 green chilli
  • Salt
  • A pinch of soda bicarb
  • Coriander leaves-2 tbsp
  • Carom seeds(ajwain)-1/4 tsp or 1ajwain leaf(optional)chopped
  • Water
  • Oil for deep frying

How we make:

  • Keep all the ingredients for Pakoda ready  in one mixing bowl
  • Add water and adjust the consistency  not very thick ,neither flowing
  • When oil is hot and ready,drop in the pakodas
  • Slowly fry the pakodas on medium flame
  • When it’s done take them out on tissue paper to drain excess oil from it

For the kadhi

    • Take a cooking vessel, add curd,ground spices,turmeric,salt,and mix it well
    • Dilute besan with little water and whisk it well along with curd mixture
    • No lumps should be formed 
    • Add water and mix all the ingredients well
    • Place the vessel on low flame and keep stirring the kadhi in between
    • When the kadhi starts to boil,add the coriander leaves and little sugar to balance the sourness from the curd.
    • If you using thick and  sweet curd you need not add sugar
    • Kadhi is ready now
    • Cover and keep aside.

    Total time spent:30 mins

      You can make extra pakodas and serve it along with Kadhi,few can go in the curry and rest can be enjoyed as you like

      Give tadka to the kadhi and when you going to serve it add few pakodas to the warm kadhi and serve immediately,before the pakodas turn soggy.Also remember,when you add pakodas to the  kadhi, the kadhi turns thick .

      Serve it with rice or chapati
