Sweet Potato Cutlets

Sweet potatoes are nutritious,high in fiber,good source of vitamins A,C ,B6,B5.They can be steamed,fried,roasted or baked.I enjoy eating steamed sweet potatoes.Variety of recipes can be made using these sweet tasting vegetable.


Generally we make cutlets with potatoes ,but do try this version of cutlets recipe which adds a little sweetness in your mouth with every bite you eat.

Dish name:Sweet Potato Cutlets

What we need:

  • Sweet potato-2,medium
  • oil for shallow frying
  • Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  • Chaat masala powder-1 tsp
  • Masala oats(curry -pepper)-4 tbsp
  • salt
  • coriander leaves -2 tbsp chopped
  • Breadcrumbs-1/4 cup

How we make:

Steam the potatoes or pressure cook it for 2 to 3 whistles till it becomes soft and can be easily mashed

  • Take a mixing bowl and add the mashed potatoes ,dry spices,oats and mix well
  • Make the cutlet dough just like how you make for aloo cutlets
  • Binding all the ingredients together is easy as we have added the oats
  • Shape the cutlets in any desired shape
  • Put breadcrumbs on the plate and coat cutlets with it  on all sides evenly
  • Place the cutlets on  a tray and keep in the fridge for 10 mins

  • Keep oil ready in a non stick frying pan
  • Fry them on medium heat till both sides turn golden brown
  • Serve hot with ketchup or salad

Total time spent:40 mins

Masala oats any flavour can be used but i chose curry pepper to balance the sweetness with spice .Its healthy recipe and a good snack for kids
