Chatpate  Jamun Kofte

Dish Name: Chatpate Jamun Kofte

What we need:

  • Instant gulab jamun mix-1/4 cup
  • Cornflour-3 tbsp
  • Turmeric-1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder-1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder-1 tsp
  • Chaat masala or lemon juice -1/2 tsp
  • Potato-1 small,boil and mashed
  •  Fresh Paneer-3/4 cup,grated
  • Green or yellow capsicum-3 tbsp,finely chopped
  • Onion-2 tbsp,finely chopped
  • Cheese cube-1
  • Coriander-1/4 cup
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt
  • Breadcrumbs-1/2 cup

How we make:

  • Take a mixing bowl and add paneer ,potato ,onion,capsicum into it
  • Add the dry spices , jamun mix, and coriander
  • Cut the cheese cube in small squares and keep aside
  • Lightly knead the mix,if the mix is dry add little oil but not water
  • Grease your palm and take the mixture on palm and shape the mixture in a patty of  any size and stuff cheese inside and once again  shape it like a kofta
  • Make the remaining koftas in same way
  • Make a  batter ( cornflour+  water ) of   light thin consistency to coat the koftas
  • Place the kofta ball on a spoon and dip the spoon in batter ,coat the ball neatly and immediately place it over breadcrumbs
  • Roll the koftas gently on breadcrumbs and keep in a tray
  • Cover them with cling wrap or  with plate
  • Refrigerate the koftas for ten mins

Time to fry the kofta:

  • Heat oil for deep frying
  • Reduce the heat to medium
  • Slowly add the koftas in oil and fry 3 or 4 at a time
  • Deep fry till golden brown and crispy
  • Spicy jamuns are ready to be served with ketchup or sauce of your choice

Total time spent:40 mins

Its very yummy and all age groups will enjoy this evening snack.You can add more cheese to enjoy the buttery taste that melts in mouth with every bite .Make an extra batch of koftas  and store them in zip lock bag in freezer.It remains good for a week.For kids who dont prefer spicy and  oily snack ,add their favourite vegetables (steamed) along with potato and lots of cheese with only salt pepper and make the kofta patty and shallow fry on nonstick pan.
